Our Mission
“We exist to glorify God by being and making disciples of Christ.” That is our mission and we take it seriously. Helping every single person who attends CVCC to be a disciple and a disciple maker is our passion.
We believe a growing Christian life should be characterized by four core and essential commitments or priorities – Belong, Grow, Serve, and Reach.
Belong – A disciple’s life is a life connected to others. We do life together with other believers, other members of the family of God. We share each other’s burdens, experience other’s joys and pains, walk through trials together, grapple with faith issues, and refine and sharpen each other.
Grow – A disciple’s life is a life of growing in the image of Christ. We don’t assume that once you become a Christian you will automatically grow. We believe in providing intentional growth opportunities to encourage everyone to learn and be trained about God, the Bible, the Christian worldview, and Christian living.
Serve – A disciple’s life is a life of service. The Holy Spirit has given each believer spiritual gifts. We believe a disciple will identity, practice, and exercise his or her spiritual gifts to serve the body of Christ and the community at large.
Reach – A disciple’s life is a life of being a witness for Christ – through personal evangelism as well as local and global missions. We believe in “each one reach one.” We encourage every believer to consistently pray for and share the Gospel with at least one person who is not yet a believer. We also seek out global opportunities and commission teams worldwide to bring the Gospel to the “remotest parts of the earth.”
Come and join us!
Statement of faith
THE WORD OF GOD
We believe that the Bible, all 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired Word and revelation of God, inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed in its original manuscripts and is so preserved by God that it is the only authoritative standard of faith and practice. (Ps. 19:7-11; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:16-21)
THE TRINITY
We believe in the one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons, equal in every divine perfection: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 1:1-2; 1 John 5:1-8)
GOD THE FATHER
We believe in God the Father, an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love, who is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. (Gen. 1:1; Is. 45:18; John 4:24; Eph. 1:3-6; 1 Pet. 1:15-16)
JESUS CHRIST
We believe in the Virgin birth and deity of Jesus Christ and that He is God Incarnate for Whom all things were created, and that He lived a sinless life on earth. (Luke 1:34-35; John 1:1-14; Heb. 4:15)
We believe in the substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He suffered and died for sinners. (Heb. 2:9; John 3:1-18, 6:44-69)
We believe in the physical resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His bodily ascension into the heavens and in His current presence at the right hand of God as our Mediator, Priest, and Advocate. (Acts 3:12-26; John 20; Heb. 9:24; 1 Cor. 15:12-28)
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit is the infallible interpreter of the infallible Bible. We believe He baptizes, seals, indwells, fills, and gives spiritual gifts to all believers. (Rom. 8:14-27; 1 Cor. 12:11-13; Eph. 1:13)
SIN AND SALVATION
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. (Ezek. 18:4; Rom. 3:9-20, 6:23)
We believe sin is an attitude of indifference toward God, which is characterized by an active or passive rebellion. We believe that God saves those who repent of their sins and place trust in Jesus Christ as Savior. We believe that a believer cannot lose his salvation. (John 10:28; Rom. 8:35-39; Eph. 2:8-
CHRISTIAN CONDUCT
We believe all believers should be careful to maintain good works and to walk according to the Spirit in keeping with their salvation. (Eph. 2:8-10; Tit. 2:1-5, 3:1-11; 1 Pet. 1:14-16)
THE CHURCH
We believe that the church consists of all those who, through saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, are united together in the Body of Christ. (Eph. 1:22-23, 5:25-27; 1 Cor. 12:12-27; Rom. 12:4-5)
We believe that Jesus Christ established the Lord’s Supper and water baptism as ordinances for the church to observe. They are not means of salvation. (Matt. 28:19; 1 Cor. 11:23-26; Acts 18:8; Rom. 6:3-5)
THE GREAT COMMISSION
We believe in the Great Evangelistic Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” (Matt. 28:16-20; Acts 1:8)
HEAVEN AND HELL
We believe that heaven is a place for eternal blessedness and that hell is a place of eternal suffering. (2 Cor. 5:1-10; Rev. 20:1-15, 21, 22)
THE LAST THINGS
We believe in the personal, premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His saints, and with His saints, to reign a thousand years over the earth. (1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:50-55; Rev. 19:19-20, 20:1-6)
