Welcome to JHM!
Our Jr. High School Ministry includes students in 7th – 8th grade. Many people use words like weird, freaks, geeks, and hyperactive to describe Jr. Highers. These may be accurate but we think they are also pretty awesome! Our team of adult leaders love Jr. Highers and they freely donate their time to invest into their lives because we love them and think this is a key time in their lives.
Studies show that 12-14 year olds are going through more changes (physically, emotionally, psychologically, etc.) than at any other time in their life –excluding from birth to 2 years old. From voice changes, facial hair growth, pimples, and the overnight necessities of extreme amounts of deodorant! It’s no wonder they are so squirrely, goofy, confusing, irritable, and irritating!
We exist to FOCUS this generation on becoming lifelong disciples of Christ.
Our Junior High Ministry meets on Sundays from 10:45 am to noon and Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the Jr High Room, which is located in the back building on the 2nd floor.
2019 Spring Calendar
When it comes to student ministry here in Jr. High, we have a simple formula that we have seen work over and over and over again. Here it is:
A CARING ADULT + A STUDENT = GOOD STUFF
That’s it. It’s not magic, and it’s certainly not algebraic. We know that when a caring adult is involved in the life of a student(s), good stuff happens. Will you consider being one of those caring adults? Our team would love to have you join us! We have three primary roles that allow for various levels of involvement: (1) Service Leaders, (2) Special Event Leaders, and (3) Behind the Scenes Leaders. For more information about each of these roles, continue reading below.
If you already know that you are interested in being a leader, click the link below to print out the volunteer leader application packet. Once you have read and completed the form, turn it in the church office. If you have any questions or need help, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you still aren’t sure about where you would like to serve, please continue reading.
Service leaders serve at one or both of our weekly services either the Sunday Morning 9am service or the Wednesday Evening 7pm service. Responsibilities include connecting with students, participating in the program, helping with set up and tear down and leading a small group of students. During this time we will typically set up the message, debrief the message, get updates on student’s lives and pray together.
Special Event Leaders
Special Event leaders help plan, organize, and run our SSM special events. At times we just need adult leaders for transport needs, to attend the event and connect with students. Events include camps, retreats, worship nights, fun nights, and MORE
Behind the Scenes Leaders
We have several parents, grandparents or other caring adults who want to help us invest in the lives of Jr. Highers but are either uncomfortable working directly with them, are too busy during our normal meeting times to be Service Leaders, or who want to give their son/daughter their own space. That’s why we have our Behind the Scenes Leaders. From helping with paperwork, fundraising, sending out birthday cards, bringing snacks once in a while, setting up or decorating for special events; there is always something for our Behind the Scenes Leaders to do.
